Product Manager

The product manager is responsible for identifying the customer needs and the business objectives that a product will fulfil. They are responsible for articulating success metrics and rallying a team to turn that vision into a reality. They are also responsible for defining and supporting the building of desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable products that meet the customer and business needs. This role also supports and champions the relevant  “Go to Market” activities.   This role remains entrenched in the product for the duration of the product life cycle forming the bridge between the business, tech and design. This role will require the ability to balance technical, business and user considerations, continuously gather user feedback, and make data-driven decisions to drive the product's success in the market.

Skills & requirements

01.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLSET

The position will require someone with at least 3-4 years of experience as a product/ project manager in the tech industry. A qualification (Certificate, Diploma or Degree) in project management, Information Systems or anything related would be to your advantage.

Understanding user needs, preferences, and pain points is at the core of product management.

A strong understanding of software development processes, technologies, and methodologies would be highly beneficial.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Product Vision and Strategy:

  • Define and communicate product vision and strategy
  • Act as the customer advocate in the development team articulating users' needs
  • Work with the business and Product Designer to define what problems to solve through continuous discovery activities

Define & manage the delivery of product value:

  • Analyse software documentation (e.g. API documentation) where necessary to aid in technical decisions
  • Understand and communicate a software system's technical stack at a high level.
  • Clearly define project context deliverables and outcomes

Define and manage peripheral, supplementary and complementary product requirements:

  • Assist in identifying relevant compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying the operational environment necessary to manage the product post-launch.
  • Communicate operational, compliance and regulatory requirements to the Product Owner to ensure relevant features are delivered.
  • Facilitate the activities related to the product launch. This includes the development and/or distribution of customer communications, launch plans, coordinating launch activities, ensuring relevant materials and collateral are prepared, etc. 
  • Facilitate setup of all customer experience and operational requirements, training materials, and operational and procedural documentation

Project & product reporting:

  • Provide analytics and success metrics reporting to stakeholders, including deriving insights and making recommendations 
  • Provide the necessary analysis on product success metrics and report on product success iteratively, with insight on impacted business and product goals.
  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that is used to update stakeholders.

Manage development projects & stakeholder relationships:

  • Brief the scrum team with any new work in good time so that the necessary planning can be done and the backlog can be managed
  • Run iteration planning and retrospective meetings with the Scrum Master
  • Plan and schedule resources with Scrum Master
  • Manage quality output 
  • Build trusting relationships with all stakeholder
  • Manage stakeholder expectations

Manage product lifecycle:

  • Provide input into product direction and strategy
  • Suggest product enhancements and improvements
  • Manage product support and guide operational processes as required
